Hamid graduated from the MASc (Biomedical Engineering) program, while Chris graduated with a BSc (Biology and Physics) degree. A big party followed.

May 2017, Honors Project Prize

Chris Dedek awarded the "Honors project prize" for his presentation of his Honor's thesis titled "The Application of Raman Spectroscopy to Retrospective Dosimetry of Whole Blood".

Sangeeta's Physics public lecture "Shining a Light on Cancer with Biophotonics" at Richcraft Hall, Carleton University was very well-received.

Dec 20, 2016, Congratulations to Hamid!

Hamid successfully defended his MASc thesis: Development of Raman micro-spectroscopy to characterize human ovarian cancer cells. Hamid is Dr. Murugkar's first master's student to complete, and our department's first student in Biomedical Engineering to complete.

Nov 9, 2016 - Dr. Murugkar wins the Norman Edmund Inspiration Award

This award honors the contributions made by Norman Edmund to advance the science of optics. The recipient of the award is chosen from among the 30 global finalists of the 2016 Educational Award in the Americas and Europe.

Hamid presented a talk at the Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP) meeting in Ottawa.

Hamid presented a poster at the annual meeting of the Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists (COMP) in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

Abrar presented a poster at the international conference on clinical spectroscopy, SPEC 2016 in Montreal on June 27 2016.

Dean Shepherdson was selected from 4000 participants at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research in North Carolina, USA, to present a talk related to his research
